Founded in 2004, ISDD's mission is to promote healthier outcomes for children and families living in the Atlanta Metro Area. ISDD provides programs that reduce the negative effects of social and economic disadvantage on the health, growth and development of children. ISDD assists parents, grandparents and caregivers in understanding the needs of their children while facilitating clients and their families’ access to optimal healthcare, child development information, and educational services. The goal of ISDD is to create healthier outcomes for vulnerable children and families. Each year ISDD serves more than 600 children, parents and grandparents through its ongoing programming.
Project GRANDD (Grandparents Raising And Nurturing Dependents with Disabilities)is the only caregiver program in Georgia providing supportive services to grandparents raising grandchildren with developmental disabilities, chronic health conditions and learning and behavior disorders. Project GRANDD provides support groups, individual/family case management, training, education and referrals to support stable, safe and loving families. All services are provided at no charge.
HEALTHCARE WITHOUT WALLS is a unique program that integrates child health services and maternal/child health literacy training. This coordinated approach ensures that children have a Medical Home while eliminating barriers to child healthcare. Working with partner agencies, children who have experienced homelessness and other instabilities receive free healthcare services and case management while mothers receive child health literacy training. Healthcare Without Walls addresses the healthcare and developmental needs of children who are at greater risk for poorer long-term health outcomes such as developmental disabilities and chronic disease due to instability and homelessness.
