In 1997, Edward Barksdale was finishing his junior year at Hillsboro High School and preparing for the summer mission trip when he died tragically in a car accident. After his death, the annual golf tournament was renamed to memorialize Edward and his legacy of serving others. Edward was a fine young man with a promising future, a love for those less fortunate, and a great sense of humor. Not only did these annual mission trips make a difference in his life, he too, made a difference in the lives of those he served. This tournament helps honor his legacy and provide opportunities for youth today. He was adored by all who had the privilege of knowing him during his short time with us.
ABOUT BELLE MEADE UNITED METHODIST
The vision of Belle Meade United Methodist Church is to share the love of God and neighbor through Spiritual Growth, Missional Living, and Community Partnership. As a community of faith led by the Spirit of God, we believe there must be diverse opportunities for spiritual growth. Whether through worship, bible studies, home groups, or Sunday School classes, we encourage every member to take ownership in the development of their faith. Missional Living addresses our individual, every day commitment to share the love of God through our words and actions. Each of us is seeking to live with eyes and ears attuned to how we can best use our unique gifts and resources. As a congregation with space and resources, we are committed to partnering with people and agencies that directly impact our communities. “Partnership” expresses our desire to be approach ministry not as “what I can do for you?” but “what we can do together?” In this way, our relationships are equal; each agency or person has something valuable to offer the other. Join us any Sunday morning at 8:30 AM in the Chapel or 10:30 AM in the Sanctuary! We have multiple community events throughout the year, so we’d love for you to stop by and get to know our church family. Click here to check out our website for more information!!
