About

Sheltered Yoga is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization . The objectives of the organization are to teach mental and behavioral health and wellness tools and life skills to people who are living with disorders, trauma, drug and alcohol addiction, chronic pain, low self-esteem, eating disorders, anxiety and depression.  We do this through our evidence-based, trauma-informed core curriculum that has over 20 years of experience incorporated into each unit and lesson plan.

The organization was founded in 2014 by Tina LeMar, MA, MBA, CYT.  Ms. LeMar, also the current Executive Director, was a certified yoga instructor for over 18 years when she decided to begin the nonprofit. She personally understands the individuals the nonprofit serves, as she has known chronic pain, with scoliosis and several herniated discs, as well as mental and emotional pain being bullied growing up, living with ADHD, trauma, and suffered from anxiety, panic attacks, and agoraphobia.  She overcame all of her struggles by practicing yoga, mindfulness, and meditation daily.  You will hear her proporting to others, "Yoga saved my life."
