The 2nd Annual Tom Gustin Charity Golf Tournament will be held at Willowbend in Mashpee, MA on September 30, 2019 in partnership with Jimmy Fund Golf. The proceeds from this event will support glioblastoma research at the world-renowned Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
This year, we have set a goal to raise $20,000 in support of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s glioblastoma cancer research. With your help, we can reach this goal together. We are asking local businesses, friends, family, and colleagues to assist in reaching our fundraising goals by offering the following:
- Golf: Come golf at the beautiful Willowbend golf course. Registration will include golf, a boxed lunch, dinner, and goody bag.
- Sponsorships: There are various ways to sponsor our event, which will promote your company or brand to all participants.
- Merchandise Donations: These items could be part of our goody bags (one item per player, i.e. hats, tees, coupons, etc.), silent auctions or drawings (i.e. tickets, gift certificates, foursomes etc.) If you are interested in this, please email us at TomGustinGolf@gmail.com so that we can arrange pick up or delivery of items.
- Monetary Donations: Any donation will help us raise more money for Dana-Farber. Every bit helps.
About Tom Gustin
Mentor, problem solver, compassion, and, most importantly, fighter are just a few words that describe Tom Gustin. In October 2017, he was diagnosed with a glioblastoma tumor. He had surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital to remove some of the brain tumor. After a short time at Spaulding Rehab in Boston, he then received treatment through Dana-Farber and Cape Cod Cancer Center. With his strong, positive spirit he tried his best to fight this tumor. But it was bigger than him, "Tom the bomb". He passed away on December 24, 2017.
It was important for Tom to affect people in a positive way. He donated his brain to cancer research in hopes that it would help doctors find more effective ways to treat this awful disease. In doing this golf fundraiser, the Gustin family is hoping to continue Tom’s desire to help others.

Glioblastomas are the most common primary cancer of the brain, and the most common type of brain tumor that occur in adults. It is a very aggressive type of cancer that resists traditional chemo and radiation. Therefore, funding for research is imperative to find other ways to treat this disease. Today, federal funding is severely limited to brain cancer research and without funds raised through events like this, many promising cancer treatment advances would not be able to be pursued.
In doing this golf fundraiser, the Gustin family is hoping to honor Tom’s life and support ongoing glioblastoma research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. All proceeds benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute glioblastoma research in the name of Tom Gustin.
We thank you for your consideration to support our event and help thousands of patients benefit from our fundraising.
